Life is complicated

On Saturday my husband's grandmother passed away.  I have been with him for 10 years and I never had a conversation with her.  You see she was stricken with Parkinsons many years before I met my husband.  She had been cared for at home by private nurses and doctors for the better part of 10 years, and in that time she had come close to death multiple times and had been saved multiple times.  A few months ago a DNR order was signed, she passed peacefully on Saturday.

It was a traditional orthodox funeral, as such, pregnant women are not permitted.  Jeremy went alone to pay respects to his grandmother and to honor his father. No matter the relationship or lack of relationship my husband had with his grandmother, he loves, respects and honors his father.  He is a good son, my husband.

He did not eulogize his grandmother today, but last night while driving home we talked about his memories of her and he expressed how much our daughter would have loved her.  She was a beautiful, cultured and fancy woman, all of the ingredients that little girls love, but alas it was not meant to be that their lives would intersect.

This woman who mothered one of the most important men in my children's lives, their Papa, meant a lot to many people.  Although we never knew her we know her through our beloved Papa and we believe that she would have relished in their innocence and limitless joy.

Rest in peace Grandma I.
